Poteau golfer wins own tournament; Lady Pirates third; Two other Poteau golfers medal

Poteau Lady Pirate golfer Hannah Ward won the Poteau Lady Pirate Invitational Thursday afternoon at Choctaw Country Club. She shot a 71, which was five shots better than runner-up Kailey Campbell of Oktaha (76).
As a team, the Lady Pirates were third with 357, finishing behind team champion Idabel (354) and Henryetta (357).
Actually, Poteau and Henryetta tied for second. Scores of each team's No. 5 golfer was used, and the Lady Knight's score was better than the Lady Pirate's.
After Ward, Poteau had two other medalists — Cathleen Manlove was seventh (89) and Addie Guthrie was a shot behind (90) to be 10th-place medalist.
Paitton Callery and Skylynn Terry each shot 107s, while Heather Robinson (105), Alyssa Vineyard (115) and Jentri Jackson (118) played as individuals.
The Heavener Lady Wolves also had two individuals. Lexi Moody shot a 128, while Makayla Cheek had a 133.
The Lady Pirates will return to the links at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Sallisaw Invitational.
