STILLWATER â€” There was an invasion of LeFlore County high school cross country runners on the campus of Oklahoma State University on Saturday as the Poteau and Heavener high school teams competed at the OSU Jamboree.
In the Class 4A girls' division, the Lady Pirates came in 20th with 499 points. Canyon, Texas, won the girls' team title with 64 points.
Sheridan Hoyer had Poteau's highest finish as she came in 68th (13:20.05) out ot 198 runners in the meet. Deven Bond was 75th (13:31.2), followed by Colleen Peterson in 119th (14:13.6), Tabitha Waldrop in 140th (14:37.31), Kayle Dryer in 142nd (14:39.82), Edys Ocampo in 146th (14:51) and Shandee Staton in 167th (15;46.15).
In the Class 4A boys' division, the Pirates came in 21st with 447 points. Deer Creek-Edmond won the boys' team title with 63 points.
Nico Hall paced Poteau with a 68th-place finish as he ran the course in 19:00.28. Daniel Stacy was 81st (19:11.61), Dylan Fox was 82nd (19:11.68), Ashby Clark was 108th (19:43.49), Tyler White was 129th (19:56.7), Cuco Bustos was 178th (22:10.55) and Bobby Graham was 179th (22:13.31). There were 195 runners in the field of competitors.
In the Class 3A-2A-A girls' division, the Heavener Lady Wolves were 13th with 343 points. Plainview won the girls' team title with 38 points.
The highest Heavener placer in the race came from Araceli Farias as she was 63rd (14:21.25). Johna Enger was 97th (15:37.2), Caitlin Carson was 111th (16:40.07), Gloriann Staines was 115th (16:55.33) and Kaylan Leder was 136th (19:50.56). There were 138 runners in the field.
In the Class 3A-2A-A boys' division, Jose Farias was 31st with a time of 18:45.06 to be the highest finisher for the Heavener Wolves. Arturo Ortega was 122nd (21:30.99), Cesar Gonzales was 134th (22:01.56), Octavio Sanchez was 158th (24:49.4) and Michael Bobo was 169th (26:48.59). There were 171 runners in the field.
As a team, the Wolves were 21st with 511 points. Tulsa Holland Hall (93 points) edged Plainview (101) for the team title.
The Lady Pirates and Pirates will return to action at 10 a.m. Friday as they will run at the Class 4A Pre-State Meet at Edmond's Mitch Park.
The Lady Wolves and Wolves will run at the Checotah Invitational on Thursday.
