Poteau, Heavener cross country runners participate in OSU Jamboree Saturday morning

STILLWATER — The Poteau and Heavener high school cross country runners participated in the 75th annual Oklahoma State Jamboree Saturday morning.
In the Class 4A-5A girls division, the Poteau Lady Pirates were 15th with 405 points.
Deven Bond led the way for the Lady Pirates as she was 46th (13:12.95), followed by Sheridan Hoyer in 51st (13:20.72), Colleen Peterson in 104th (14:22.57), Tabitha Waldrop in 131st (15:15.66), Samantha Galetka in 135th (15:24.11), Shandee Staton in 147th (16:05.89) and Katie Piquet in 153rd (16:34.18).
The Pirates were 24th in the Class 4A-5A boys division with 646 points. Poteau's highest finisher was Daniel Stacy, who came in 90th (19:36.17). Dylan Fox was 149th (21:16.42), Will Longenbaugh was 150th (21:18.97), Tyler White was 155th (21:28.82), Bobby Graham was 168th (22:20.24), Noah Martin was 177th (23:03.84) and Wesley Reeves was 186th (24:30.45).
In the junior varsity boys race, Poteau was 28th with 841 points. Nico Hall was the highest Pirate finisher as he came in 61st (19:24.85), followed by Josh Anderson in 251st (21:21.86), Hong Siu in 320th (22:02.85), Daryl Callaway in 350th (22:21.02), Kendell Smith in 462nd (24:09.91), Jeffrey Ridner in 475th (24:47.88), Bobby Elkins in 530th (27:14.72) and Trey Wells in 542nd (27:57.15).
In the Class A-3A girls division, the Heavener Lady Wolves were 13th with 329 points. Heavener's highest finisher was Araceli Farias, who came in 57th (14:24.21). Johna Enger was 59th (14:42.64), Melyssa Lynch was 86th (15:35.39), Caitlin Carson was 88th (15:38.87) and Jazmin Cruz was 93rd (15:46.57).
The Wolves were 10th in the Class A-3A boys race with 241 points, paced by Jose Farias' 39th-place finish (19:31.16). Arturo Ortega was 53rd (20:26.65), followed by Dakotah McGee in 54th (20:29.59), Cesar Gonzales in 60th (20:37.43) and Octavio Sanchez in 86th (23:30.72).
Both schools' runners will return to action this weekend. The Poteau runners will be in the Class 4A Pre-State Meet at 11:45 a.m. Friday at Edmond's Mitch Park — the site of this season's Class 4A State Meet on Oct. 29.
The Heavener runners will he the course once again at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Greenwood (Ark.) Invitational.
