Poteau, Heavener softball players make Large East Slow-Pitch All-State Team

May 9, 2012

Last fall, Poteau Lady Pirate softball player Briley Benson made the Large East Fast-Pitch All-State Softball Team. This spring, two slow-pitch players received the same honor.
Poteau's Natalee King and Heavener's Logan Hinds, both of whom are soon-to-be Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings, were named to the Large East Slow-Pitch All-State Team.
King, who was named the 2012 LeFlore County Slow-Pitch County Tournament Most Valuable Player, batted .522 with four home runs, an on-base percentage of .625 and a slugging percentage of .774.
Hinds, who was a first-team All-LeFlore County Slow-Pitch Tournament Team, had a .525 batting average with seven homers, eight doubles and a triple. She scored 42 runs, had 50 runs batted in and amassed 63 hits.
The Oklahoma Slow-Pitch Softball Coaches Association's All-State Games will be June 16 at the University of Oklahoma Softball Complex in Norman.
One week before on June 9, Benson will be a part of the Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Softball Coaches Association's All-State Games — which will also take place at the OU Softball Complex.
