May 11, 2012

Several Poteau High School basketball players were honored at Wednesday night's awards banquet at Carl Albert State College.
Poteau Boys Coach Scott Nelke awarded certificates to his three players who made the All-NOAA Conference First Team — Blake Williams, Marshall Jones and Wilson Klutts.
Kendrick Hardaway was given a certificate for being named to the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association All-District Team. He was the only underclassmen to be named to the team.
Jarrett Lowrimore was named the Newcomer of the Year, while Dylan Stone was named the Most Improved Player for the 2011-12 season.
Williams was awarded with the Hustle Award, while Klutts was honored for having the highest free-throw percentage.
Klutts and Jones were co-rebounding leaders, each with 135.
Jones was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player, while Hardaway was the Most Outstanding Offensive Player.
On the Lady Pirates' side, Poteau Girls Assistant Coach Shanna Hall recognized Briley Benson for being the team's leader in assists, while making the All-NOAA Conference First Team.
The co-Most Valuable Players of the Year were the top two leading scorers — Kaitlan Standridge and Colleen Peterson.
Montana Roll was named both the Newcomer of the Year and being the team's steals leader with 46.
The Hustle/Team Spirit Award went to Hannah Waldrop, while Shelby Standridge and Brenna Vise were co-winners of the Sixth-Man Award.
Addie Guthrie was the Spark Plug Award winner, while Meagan Ryburn was named the Most Improved Player for the past season. Both Guthrie and Ryburn were honorable mention on the All-NOAA Team.
To close the banquet the senior players in attendance — Benson, Guthrie, Ryburn, Klutts and Jones — were given framed collages for senior recognition.
Also, both coaches recognized their freshmen players.
