Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame elects 36 new members

April 20, 2012

The Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame Committee met Wednesday night and elected an incoming class of 36 inductees to be enshrined next month.
The committee believes that they have an awesome Class for 2012. There will be players, coaches and people who have served their teams with pride and dignity from the 1940s, ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s inducted this year. Committee members present were Merl Moss, Pierre Guiellet, Doug Stone, Ronnie Soughton, Charlene McMillin and Jim Marsh.
For those who failed to nominate a candidate this year, they just simply put their nomination(s) on hold and submit it for the next year.
The Hall of Fame Banquet will be May 25 at the Civic Center. The price of admission will be $15.
For those who would like to come to the banquet, send a check to Jim Marsh, 411 Parker, Poteau, OK 74953.
The Committee is planning on having the banquet before each and every upcoming All-School Reunions in the future. The start-up cost will be high, but for anyone who would like to help resurrect this tradition, please feel to make a donation to the Poteau High School Sports Hall of Fame. Those donations can also be mailed to the same address as listed above.
All members of the Poteau High School Hall of Fame are urged to attend.
The names of the 2012 Hall of Fame Inductees will be printed in the paper at a later date as soon as the inductees have been notified by the committee.
