It took until 2013 before the Poteau High School basketball fans could see their teams at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse, but it finally happened Friday night when the Pirates and Lady Pirates entertained Spiro. To make things even better, the home teams didn't disappoint their fans — but did make them perhaps a bit squeamish.
While both Poteau teams won, the outcome in both games was in doubt until the very end. The Pirates rebounded from a rough opening period to come away with a 52-46 come-from-behind victory over the Bulldogs, while the Lady Pirates almost let a 14-point first-quarter lead evaporate before hanging on to down the Lady Bulldogs 47-42.
