The Poteau Kiwanis Club is a service organization with a primary emphasis on serving the youth of our community.
The Kiwanis Club meets each Thursday at noon at the Western Sizzlin.
The Club has several events each year to serve Poteau and the surrounding community.
Each year, the Kiwanis Club puts on the Little Olympics in April, a popular event held at Costner Stadium, drawing elementary students from all over LeFlore County to Poteau for a fun evening of running and competing.
It is also one of the Club’s biggest fundraisers of the year. The Kiwanis Club uses the proceeds from its fundraisers to sponsor a learn-to-swim program each year for local youth.
Also, the Club holds an annual fundraising pancake breakfast each February, which has become a tradition for those young and old to get together for all-you-can eat pancakes, bacon and sausage, along with orange juice, coffee and milk.
In addition, the Kiwanis Club has held a golf tournament over the past few years with proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club of LeFlore County, along with the LeFlore County Youth Services.
