Poteau Lady Pirates golf team sweep top honors at Sallisaw; three golfers place in top five

SALLISAW — The Poteau Lady Pirates, the Class 4A defending state champions, continued its strong play on the links Monday afternoon by winning the team and individual titles at the Sallisaw Invitational.
The Lady Pirates won the team title with 357, while defending individual state champion Hannah Ward was the top medalist with a 74.
However, Ward was not the only Lady Pirate to medal. Skylynn Terry was fourth-place medalist with an 89, while Cathleen Manlove was fifth-place medalist at 90.
Alyssa Vineyard shot a 104, Dallas Terry carded a 108, Kori Lafevers had a 116 and Jenna Stites shot a 122.
The Lady Pirates will return to action Thursday at the Pryor Invitational, which begins at 8:30 a.m.
