Poteau Lady Pirates, senior golfer in third place after opening round at state

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Poteau Lady Pirates and senior golfer Hannah Ward were both in third place in the standings after the opening round of the Class 4A State Tournament on Wednesday at Lake Hefner South Golf Course.
The Lady Pirates had a team score of 350, nine team shots behind team-leading Clinton (341) and second-place Hilldale (347).
The University of Arkansas-Little Rock signee Ward, who is the two-time defending state champion, was also in third place after the opening 18 holes after shooting a 76. She is two shots behind individual leader Paige Neidy of Clinton, who shot a 74.
As for the other Lady Pirates, Skylynn Terry had an 88, with Dallas Terry three shots behind with a 91. Alyssa Vineyard shot a 95, while Shelli Cobb had a 111.
