Poteau Lady Pirates top seed for next month's LeFlore County Fast-Pitch Tournament
Tuesday night could very well have been a prelude to what fans will see Sept. 13 at the Poteau Area Recreational Complex in the 2012 version of the LeFlore County Fast-Pitch Tournament. When the Poteau Lady Pirates outlasted — literally — the Panama Lady Razorbacks 1-0 in a 14-inning, 3.5-hour contest, it gave the Lady Pirates the necessary edge to garner the top seed, which was determined at Wednesday night's seeding meeting at Western Sizzlin'.The Lady ’Backs, the defending Class 2A state champions, were named the No. 2 seed, and fans can only hope if the seeding holds true that a similar type of game happens should Poteau and Panama meet for the county title. As for the rest of the seeding, Wister was named the third seed, which was aided by Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Spiro. Talihina was named the fourth seed, followed by the Lady Bulldogs.Pocola got the sixth seed, followed by Heavener in seventh, Cameron eighth, Whitesboro ninth, Arkoma 10th, Bokoshe 11th and Howe 12th. Leflore does not have enough players to field a fast-pitch team this fall.
