From Poteau With Love

December 9, 2011

Have you ever heard the old saying "It is better to give then to receive"?
This holiday season is your chance to give. The Boy Scout Troop 30, American Veterans 63, The Poteau Post Office, and the Poteau Daily News are sponsoring From Poteau With Love, a campaign to send gifts from home to local soldiers that are currently serving their country overseas during the holiday season.
Organizers are asking the community to support this cause by way of donation or by sponsoring a box for shipment. Items needed for donations include: packaged hard candy, juice boxes, packaged Gatoraid, Twizzlers, packaged cookies, crackers, snack mix, trail mix, flavor powders for water, dental floss, tooth picks, clean-up wipes, cards and dice, sunflower seeds and nuts, gum and mints, Starbursts and Skittles, and any other specialty item or snack food that you see fit.
Items can be dropped off at the Poteau Post Office, or mail carriers can pick up items from Poteau mailboxes.
Alternately, you may also sponsor a box that will contain items and will be shipped to our men and women serving overseas. The cost of shipping a large flat rate box from the post office is $12.50 per box. Sponsors are still needed to ensure that all donated items reach our troops.
The deadline for all shipments to reach our soldiers in time for the holidays is Thursday, December 15.
