Poteau outfielder signs softball letter of intent with Connors State College

There are six players who are part of the Class of 2013 for the Poteau Lady Pirates softball team. The third athlete punched her ticket to play at the next level.
Poteau outfielder Shelby Standridge inked her name on the dotted line of her letter of intent to play college softball with Connors State College in Warner in a ceremony Wednesday morning at the high school.
“I like it because it’s small,” said Standridge, one of two Poteau All-Staters along with Brenna Vise — who signed her softball letter with Carl Albert Friday afternoon. “It’s a lot like Carl Albert, but it’s not right at home. It’s a little bit away, about 45 minutes away. That’s what made Connors State my main choice. I went to visit NSU [Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah], but it was really too big. So, I decided to go to Connors State.”
