COWETA â€” Three Poteau High School cross country runners placed high in Thursday's Coweta Invitational.
In the boys' division, Poteau's Nico Hall was fifth with a time of 18:59.6 in the 5k run, while Deven Bond (10th, 14:34.4) and Sheridan Hoyer (11th, 14:36.1) both made the top 15 in the girls' two-mile run.
As a team, the Lady Pirates were third with 121 points, finishing behind meet host Coweta (34 points) and Pryor (95).
After Bond and Hoyer in the girls' two-mile run, Tabitha Waldrop was 32nd (16:07.1), Shandee Staton was 38th (16:41.2), Colleen Peterson was 46th (17:16.6), Edys Campo was 59th (18:38.5), Sonya Guerrero was 62nd (18:58.4), Haley Clark was 64th (19:07.6) and Kim Ocampo was 74th (20:20.2).
In the boys' 5k race, the Pirates were fourth with 102 points, coming in behind meet host Coweta (41 points), Kansas (94) and Grove (99).
After Hall, Isaac Stacy was 20th (20:37.6), Dylan Fox was 22nd (2-:42.4), Tyler White was 26th (21:06.1), Ashby Clark was 31st (21:35.7), Bobby Graham was 35th (21:44.7), Jeff Ridner was 39th (22:27.4), Erik Sanjuan was 47th (22:51.6), Cuco Bustos was 50th (23:00.1), Wesley Reeves was 53rd (23:15.3), Noah Martin was 55th (23:18.3), Bobby Elkins was 63rd (24:06.6), Charles Graham was 64th (24:14.4), Jayson Davis was 65th (24:15.1), Hunter Martin was 66th (24:17.5), Carlos Panduro was 68th (24:25.1), Alex Garcia was 69th (24:25.8), Josh Anderson was 70th (24:32.8), Matt Carmack was 77th (25:54.4), Daryl Callaway was 81st (26:43.7) and Cody White was 90th (28:50.9).
The Poteau teams will run at the Oral Roberts University Invitational at 8 a.m. next Saturday in Tulsa.
Editor's Note â€” The Heavener cross country teams did not run at the East Central University Invitational Thursday in Ada. They ran in Saturday's Henryetta Invitational.
