Albeit 63 years after making their second state title appearance, the Poteau Pirates were hoping that the third time would be a charm in capturing the gold ball. It didn't happen.
Class 4A's top-ranked Anadarko Warriors showed why they're the No. 1 team in the state as they dominated the Pirates 40-0 to win the Class 4A state title game Saturday afternoon at Oklahoma State University's Boone Pickens Stadium.
See complete coverage of the game, including Sports Correspondent Jim Marsh's story, in Tuesday's edition.
