Before the Poteau Pirates took the field for their preseason Red White Scrimmage on Saturday night at Costner Stadium, Coach Greg Werner told the Pirates, “We have had a good off-season preparation in the weight room, and now it is time to earn a position.”
The scrimmage was broken down into 12-play series which featured the first line defense against the first offense and the second units facing off.
There was a lot of interest in the quarterback play. Ben Klutts and Codie Hayne took the snaps for the Red team, while Mason Grimm and Austin Archey took snaps for the White unit. Each of these QBs had their moments and their shortcomings.
