Poteau Pirates handle Stilwell for road win

STILWELL — In the pregame talk to his players, Greg Werner, Poteau's first-year coach, told his troops, “We need to go out and set the tone and the pace of the game right from the start.” Even though the Pirates scored quickly in the opening quarter, they lost their focus somewhere along the way, and the Pirates only led 13-7 over the upstart Stilwell Indians at the intermission.
The Poteau locker room was not the place to be if you were weak of heart. The Pirtates got the message the second time around, and went out and totally dominated the game as they won 40-7.
