Poteau Pirate senior quarterback Wilson Klutts pretty much re-wrote the Poteau High School quarterbacking records — and the District 4A-4 coaches were quite aware of that.
Klutts was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Year for District 4A-4. He threw for 2,346 yards and 24 touchdowns, while rushing for 337 yards and five TDs.
Klutts was not the only Pirate who was honored by District 4A-4. Four other Poteau players made the All-District 4A-4 Team — wide receiver Blake Roley, linebacker Jake McMillin, cornerback Jesse Woodson and offensive linemen Jarrett Demory
Roley was among Class 4A's top receivers in yards with 423 yards and six touchdowns.
McMillin had 63 tackles, 34 of which were solo, with one quarterback sack.
Woodwon recorded 53 tackles, of which 30 were solo, to go with one QB sack, six interceptions, a fumble recovery and two caused fumbles. But he also had some offensive statistics as well. He caught 31 passes for 517 yards — also among the best in Class 4A — and seven TDs. He also had one punt return for 40 yards and 11 kickoff returns for 255 yards — including a 93-yarder.
Editor's Note — The All-District Teams for Districts 3A-8, 2A-6 and C-4 have not been received by The Poteau Daily News. Once they are received, stories on them will appear in our Web site.
