July 4, 2012

STILWELL — The Poteau Rebels once again had to stage a rally to stay undefeated in the 2012 OK Kids PeeWee Regional Tournament.
After rallying from a 1-0 deficit Monday night to the Stilwell Cardinals, the Rebels rallied from a 2-1 deficit to end up routing the Dewar Sooners 14-2 in four innings Tuesday night.
The Rebels will play in the winner's-bracket final at 4:30 p.m. Friday, with one more win putting them into the 4:30 p.m. Saturday championship game.
At the moment, the Rebels are two wins from a state-tournament berth.
Down 2-1 after the top of the third inning, the Rebels scored seven runs in the third for an 8-2 lead after three innings. Then, they put the game into run-rule status with a six-run fourth inning.
Josh Neal, Monday's winning pitcher, went 3-for-3 with a triple, while Austin Place was 3-for-4.
Jett Carver got the Tuesday's win on the mound for the Rebels, while teammate Spencer Wells pitched the fourth inning.
