ELK CITY — The Poteau Rebels did it the hard way, but did it they did. After being bumped into the loser's bracket by the Spiro Muddawgs on July 13, the Rebels bounced back and ended up beating the ’Dawgs twice by scores of 7-6 and 9-1 to win the OK Kids Coach-Pitch State Tournament Saturday night.
The Rebels (61-9) opened with a 9-2 win over the Shawnee Drillers on July 12.
After losing to the Muddawgs the next day, Poteau bounced back with a 12-1 run-rule victory over the Cleveland Indians last Thursday, then beat the Shawnee Drillers 11-0 in another run-rule contest on Friday to make it to Saturday's championship round.
