Poteau senior golfer wants to go out with one more state title

April 30, 2013

ONE LAST TIME — Poteau Lady Pirate senior golfer Cathleen Manlove hopes to be a part of back-to-back state championships when she plays in her final Class 4A State Tournament, which will be Wednesday and Thursday at Lake Hefner South Golf Course in Oklahoma City. PDN photo by David Seeley

Last spring was a magical one for the Poteau Lady Pirates golf team as it won the Class 4A State Tournament and Hannah Ward won the individual state championship.
“It really sunk in about the time it happened,” said Poteau senior golfer Cathleen Manlove. “It was just exciting and overwhelming. It was one of those experiences that you never forget.”
Ever since last spring, Manlove has tried to make herself even better than she was a season ago.
“It's made me work harder,,” she said. “The last few weeks, I've tried to spend as much time as I can out here [at Choctaw Country Club]. I want to work as hard as I can to get another state title.”
