On Monday, the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association rewarded the Poteau Lady Pirates softball team a Class 4A Regional Tournament, which starts this afternoon. That means the Lady Pirates could celebrate a trip to state Thursday afternoon on their home field. That excited the four senior players.
“I was really excited because we always have to go off far away,” senior right fielder Meagan Ryburn said. “It's always harder to play somewhere else. Playing here, we'll get our real fans, and we'll have more people here to support us.”
“I'm just excited because we'll have home-field advantage,” senior center fielder Natalee King said. “Knowing that we'll have people here supporting us will help us do better and give us more confidence.”
“I was just really excited about playing on our own field,” senior left fielder Briley Benson said. “I just feel more confident on our field.”
“I'm pretty excited about it,” senior reserve player Lauren Solylo said. “We won't have to travel. We won't have to go a long ways to travel, and get back really late. We'll have more people supporting us.”
