NEWCASTLE — Fresh off winning the Class 4A state title last month, three Poteau Pirates — Zack Roebuck, Justin Barnes and Kyle Matos — made sure their final high school game was a win.
Roebuck scored both goals, one of which was assisted by Barnes, as the East beat the West 2-1 in the 2013 All-State Boys Soccer Game.
After a scoreless first half, Roebuck's first goal came off a corner kick by the East, taken by Barnes. Barnes put the ball to a Verdigris player, who got the ball to Roebuck who put the biscuit in the basket for the East, which were coached by Poteau's Neto Silva and Kyle Hardaway.
Roebuck's second goal came from an assist from a Fort Gibson player, also off a corner kick. Roebuck, who is planning at the moment to walk on to play college soccer at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, headed the ball into the net.
Matos had eight saves in the game, one of which came off a corner kick in the first half.
