Poteau soccer boys fall in state semifinals to Mount St. Mary

May 10, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY — For the fourth straight game, the Poteau Pirates soccer team was forced to hit the road in the Class 4A playoffs. The first three games, the Pirates found a way to get the job done, but against the Mount Saint Mary Rockets, their run at a state championship came to a screeching halt as they lost 1-0 to the Rockets in a shootout.
The Pirates (10-6) dominated everywhere except on the scoreboard. In the two halves of regulation and the two overtime periods the teams played, the Pirates had 20 good shots on goal while the Rockets could only put 11 shots on goal.
