Poteau soccer boys handle Sequoyah-Claremore Eagles; Pirates, Lady Pirates have big district road games tonight against Fort Gibson Tigers, Lady Tigers

April 11, 2014

CLAREMORE — The Poteau Pirates soccer team picked up a district road victory Tuesday night, beating the Sequoyah-Claremore Eagles 5-1.
The Lady Pirates did not officially play a game, but did meet in a scrimmage, with Allison Stone's goal tying the game at 1. The contest did not count toward the Lady Pirates' win-loss record.
The Pirates will have their most challenging district game thus far as they travel to Fort Gibson to face the Tigers who are rated fourth in Class 4A. Last year's game went to the Pirates who won in overtime at Costner Stadium. The Pirates will meet the Tigers at 7 tonight, following the 5 p.m. contest between the Lady Pirates and the Lady Tigers.
