Poteau soccer boys hunt down Hugo Buffaloes

In District 4A-6 soccer, there is a definite difference between the upper division teams — Heavener, Fort Gibson and Poteau, who without a doubt are title contenders — and the lower division teams — Hugo, Stilwell and Westville — which are mired deep in the lower division.
The Hugo Buffaloes picked a bad time to roll into Costner Stadium on Wednesday as the Pirates were still upset after Tuesday night's defeat at the hands of the Heavener Wolves in double OT. Then, too, the Buffaloes were minus their starting goaltender, who didn’t make grade and had to sit this game out.
The Pirates did just about anything they wanted to do and imposed the 10-goal rule on Hugo as they won the shortened game 10-0. The game was to have been played March 27, but bad weather kept the Buffaloes from being able to make the trip.
The Pirates will be home next Monday and Tuesday nights for their final home games of the season. Westville will be Monday night's opponent for Senior Night at 7 p.m. — a game which was to have been played last week. The seniors Pirate and Lady Pirate players will be recognized before the boys' contest.
That will be followed by Hilldale at 7 p.m. Tuesday for homecoming. Coronation will take place at 4:30 p.m. at Costner Stadium.
The Lady Pirates, who will lead off both Monday and Tuesday night twinbills with 5 p.m. games against Westville and Hilldale respectively, will be in the spotlight this afternoon with a home game against Porter Consolidated at 5 p.m. at Costner Stadium.
