Poteau soccer teams play final scrimmages of season against Greenwood, Ark.; Pirates win, but Lady Pirates suffer loss

March 1, 2012

The Poteau High School soccer teams played their final scrimmages of the season Tuesday at Costner Stadium against Greenwood, Ark.
Both the boys and girls games were advanced by two hours in hopes of beating a strong line of thundershowers that was crossing the state of Oklahoma with Poteau in its sights.
The visiting Lady Bulldogs easily disposed of the Lady Pirates by the score of 4-1, with Poteau's only goal being an own goal which was accidentally scored by Greenwood player.
But a late strike by the Pirates enabled them to win 3-2 over the ’Dogs.
The Poteau teams will open their seasons Friday night in Mena, Ark. The girls' game will begin at 5 p.m., while the boys' contest will begin at 7 p.m.
