WAGONER — The Poteau Pirates came out in the opening half, behind Ashby Clark's hat trick, and pulled out to a 5-0 lead at the intermission and then posted the 8-0 victory over the Wagoner Bulldogs on Tuesday night.
The Lady Pirates were not as fortunate. The Lady Bulldogs came out in the half and kept the pressure on Poteau's defense en route to a 6-1 victory.
The Poteau teams will have their home openers Thursday at Costner Stadium against Mena, Ark. The girls game will be at 5 p.m., followed by the boys contest at 7 p.m. The Pirates beat Mena 10-0 in the Sykes Invitational earlier this month, but the Bearcats did not have their best player available for that game.
