Poteau softball girls sweep Muldrow to win Class 4A District Tournament title

September 29, 2012

WE ARE THE CHAMPS — The Poteau Lady Pirates softball team won the Class 4A District Tournament Friday afternoon with a sweep of the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Pirates will play next week in the regional tournament. PDN photo by David Seeley

Not even a rain shower on Thursday could keep the Poteau Lady Pirates softball team from winning another district championship.
After having Game 1 of the Class 4A District Tournament suspended by Thursday afternoon's rain showers, the contest resumed Friday afternoon. The Lady Pirates ended up not only getting one run-rule win, but two. Poteau took the opener 10-0 in four innings, followed by a 12-0 three-inning victory in Game 2 to win the district title.
The Lady Pirates (29-7) will find out on Monday who, where and when they will play in the Class 4A Regional Tournament.
