One lucky Poteau Lady Pirate softball player, she is going to get to play in two All-State Games next month.
After being named to the Oklahoma Fast-Pitch Coaches Association All-State Teams with teammate Brenna Vise and Panama's Taylor Eaves, Poteau's Shelby Standridge also made the Oklahoma Slow-Pitch Coaches Association All-State Team that was announced Monday afternoon.
Standridge will play in the Large School All-State Game for the East team on June 15 at the University of Oklahoma Softball Complex. Standridge and Vise will play for the Large East team and Eaves — who will play collegiately at Northern Oklahoma College-Enid next spring — will play for the Middle East in the Fast-Pitch Coaches Association All-State Games on June 8 at the OU Softball Complex.
All total, five Lady Pirates — Standridge, Vise, Kaylee Kingrey, Gabba Wilson and Kylie Brown — were selected to the All-Region 6 Team, which is the list from which the All-State players are chosen.
The honors did not stop there. Poteau coach Misty Collins was named the District 4 Coach of the Year for guiding the Lady Pirates to a 22-14 record and a trip to the Class 6A Regional Tournament finals.
