Poteau, Spiro get regional tournaments, while Talihina, Wister hit the road

Half of the four LeFlore County high school baseball teams remaining were named regional hosts for this week's regional tournaments, which will begin Thursday.
The Poteau Pirates will have more home games at Town Creek Park as they were named the host team for the Class 4A Regional Tournament, welcoming Broken Bow, Byng and Muldrow.
The Poteau Pirates will face the Savages at 11 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the Bulldogs and the Byng Pirates at 1 p.m. The winners will play at 3 p.m. in the winner's-bracket final, while the losers will play in an elimination game at 5 p.m.
The consolation finals is set for 4 p.m. Thursday, with the winner facing the 3 p.m. Wednesday winner in the regional title at 6 p.m. Thursday. If a second title game is needed, it will be at 1 p.m. Friday.
The Spiro Bulldogs were named a Class 3A Regional Tournament host as Eufaula, Hartshorne and Stigler come to town. It will be a rematch of last year's regional finals as the Bulldogs will face the Ironheads at 11 a.m. Thursday, followed by the Miners and the Panthers at 1 p.m. The winners will play at 3 p.m. for the right to get to Friday's 6 p.m. title game, while the losers will play an elimination game at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The 5 p.m. Thursday winner and the 3 p.m. Thursday loser will play at 4 p.m. Friday in the consolation finals, with the winner playing the 3 p.m. Thursday winner for the regional title at 6 p.m. Friday. If the loser's-bracket team posts a win in that game to force a second title game, it will be at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Class 2A's teams, the Talihina Golden Tigers and the Wister Wildcats, were sent on the road for their regionals.
The Golden Tigers were sent to Crowder with the host Demons, Tushka and Oktaha. Talihina will play Oktaha at 1 p.m. Thursday right after Crowder and Tushka play. The winners will play at 3 p.m., with the losers playing at 5 p.m. The 3 p.m. Thursday loser will play the 5 p.m. Thursday winner in the consolation finals at 4 p.m. Friday, with the winner facing the 5 p.m. Thursday winner at 6 p.m. Friday for the regional title. If a second title game is needed, it will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday.
As of press time, Wister's regional bracket was incomplete because one district tournament final between Quapaw and Commerce not being finished until Monday because of weekend rain.
The Wildcats, the Quapaw-Commerce winner and Sallisaw-Central were sent to Ketchum. The schedule will be the same as in the others. The game involving the host Warriors will be at 11 a.m., followed by Wister's game at 1 p.m. Those winners will play at 3 p.m. Thursday, while the losers will play at 5 p.m. The consolation finals is set for 4 p.m. Friday, with the regional final at 6 p.m. If a second title game is needed, it will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday.
