HEAVENER — The regular season could not have ended any better for the Poteau High School basketball teams Tuesday night at the Heavener Gym.
The Lady Pirates led wire to wire en route to a 55-30 victory over the Lady Wolves. Then, the Pirates followed suit with a come-from-behind 71-41 win over the Wolves, winning by 30 points after being down 11-2 early.
The wins by the Poteau teams, while giving them momentum into this weekend's Class 4A District Tournament at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse against Hilldale, will send the Heavener squads into Friday night's Class 3A District Tournament up U.S. 59 in the town of Kansas on a down note.
The Lady Wolves and Wolves lost their Friday night home games to Stigler. The Lady Panthers prevailed 50-34 over the Lady Wolves, while the Panthers then followed with a 66-39 victory over the Wolves.
