BROKEN BOW — The Poteau Lady Pirates won their third straight Class 4A District Tournament title as they handled the homestanding Broken Bow Lady Savages 47-33 on Saturday night.
However, the news wasn't as great for the Pirates, who lost their district title game 59-41 to the Savages.
However, both Poteau teams will be in the Class 4A Regional Tournament, and will get to be at home one last time this season.
The Lady Pirates will play the Hilldale Lady Hornets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse, with the winner not only playing for the regional title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in Fort Gibson but also automatically qualifying for the Class 4A Area Tournament next week at the Wilburton High School Gym.
The Pirates also will play Hilldale in the regional tournament consolation quarterfinals at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse. The winner must also win Friday and Saturday afternoons in Fort Gibson to win the consolation championship, and earn a trip to next week's Class 4A Area Tournament in Wilburton.
