The Poteau High School basketball teams played their home openers Saturday afternoon at Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse against Atoka in games added to the original schedule after last month's wintry weather canceled the Southeast Oklahoma Shootout in McAlester.
The Lady Pirates were too quick for the Lady Wampus Cats as they pulled away for a 60-46 win, but the Pirates couldn't quite get over the hump in falling 46-42 to the visiting Cats.
