Poteau track girls capture Broken Bow Invitational; county athletes do well in meet
BROKEN BOW — The Poteau Lady Pirates track team won their sixth of eight meets this season to end the regular season as they won the Broken Bow Invitational, which took place Monday at Memorial Stadium.The Lady Pirates had 158 points. Heavener had 84 points, while Spiro had 41.The Lady Pirates won two of the four relays for 40 of their points.On the boys' side, Spiro had 97 points, with Poteau 82 points and Heavener 51.The Poteau, Heavener and Spiro tracksters will be off until next weekend's regional meets. Poteau's Class 4A Regional Meet will be at next Saturday at Oologah, while the Class 3A Regional Meet for Heavener and Spiro will be next Saturday at Prague. At all regional meets, the top three finishers, including ties, in each event automatically qualify for the state meet the next weekend. All third- through sixth-place finishers are in line for at-large bids to state as the top four finishers from four regional meets combined, including ties, will earn trips to state.
