Poteau track girls win Wilburton Invitational

WILBURTON — The Poteau Lady Pirates track team won the Wilburton Invitational on Thursday with 124 points. The Heavener Lady Wolves were fourth (52 points).
For the Howe Lady Lions, their highest placer was Savannah Smallwood, who won the shot put.
The highest placer for the Pirates was Dylan Fox, who was runner-up in the 800-meter run as he was just edged by champion Talon Woolsey of Arkoma.
As a team, the Pirates were sixth out of 18 schools with 42 points.
The Spiro Bulldogs scored 47 points to place fifth as a team.
The Spiro Lady Bulldogs also had placers in the meet. Miriah Steele was second in the 400-meter dash.
Heavener's Justin Page was runner-up in the shot put.
