Poteau track teams win Heavener Invitational as several local athletes, relay teams place

HEAVENER — The Poteau High School track teams swept the team titles at the Heavener Invitational April 2 at Harvey Stadium.
The Pirates scored 91 points, while the Lady Pirates had a whopping 134 points.
Trevor Shankle won the shot put (46-.25), while Austin Barrette, Jesse Woodson, Michael Reynolds and Kendrick Hardaway won the 400-meter relay (44.31 seconds).
Woodson was runner-up in the 200-meter dash (22.95 seconds), while coming in third in the 100-meter dash (11.16).
Nico Hall was second in the 3,200-meter run (11:19), while placing third in the 1,600-meter run (5:13.72).
Dakota Clark was runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles (43.0) and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.6).
Shankle was second in the discus (119-5), whilke Troy Barnett was sixth in the shot put (42-3).
Devin Anderson, Hardaway, Dylan Fox and Clark were third in the 1,600-meter relay (3:43.58).
As for the Lady Pirates, they won four events. Individually, Colleen Peterson won the 400-meter dash, while she was part of the champion 1,600-meter relay with Jazmine Warren, Sheridan Hoyer and Latifah Harris. Peterson, Hoyer, Warren and Deven Bond won the 3,200-meter relay.
Shelby Standridge, Natalee King, Brianna Steele and Latifiah Harris were first in the 800-meter relay and second in the 400-meter relay
Peterson's finish in the 400-meter dash helped the Lady Pirates to have three of the top five spots. Warren was third, while Hoyer was fifth.
The same thing happened in the 100-meter dash for the Lady Pirates. Harris was runner-up, Steele was fourth and King was fifth.
Skyler Webster was second in the 100-meter hurdles and fourth in the high jump.
Steele was third in the 200-meter dash, while Bond was third in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Hannah Waldrop was fifth in the 800-meter run.
Host Heavener had one champion and three total athletes who placed. Shaun Bradley won the long jump (20-4.75). Krista Doyle was third in the long jump, while Laura Jo Allen was third in the discus.
