Poteau trash-off date set

April 3, 2012

The Poteau Chamber of Commerce is urging citizens to gather their family and friends to participate in the 8th Annual City Wide Trash-Off. 2005 was the first year for the event and only four people showed, since then the event has grown to over 400 concerned citizens coming together to beautify our area. This years event will start at 9 a.m on April 21 in the parking lot of Strike-A-Lot Lanes. Donuts and juice will be available at the check-in and The Community State Bank will be serving hot dogs for lunch. Aside from collecting litter, there are several other ways to participate. Volunteers are needed to help with check-in, serve lunch, tally bags, and financial support is always welcome. Fourth grade students from the Poteau Upper Elementary School are participating in a poster contests part of a litter awareness campaign. The top ten posters will be available for viewing on facebook at www.facebook.com/poteautrashoff The public is asked to vote on their favorite starting April 7.
