Poteau welcomes Checotah to town for season opener

Although Panama and Spiro got their football seasons under way Thursday night, tonight's it's the Poteau Pirates' turn.
The Pirates will welcome the Checotah Wildcats to town for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff tonight at Costner Stadium.
“We've been looking forward to this for a while,” Poteau Coach Jeff Broyles said. “Monday when we came out for practice, the kids were so pumped. You can finally tell. It's game week. They're excited We (coaches) are excited. When I talked with the community, they're excited. I expect a huge crowd here. We're going to keep score. (The game) counts. Now, let's see where we're at.”
