Poteau and Porter Consolidated both share the same plight coming into their soccer game Friday at Costner Stadium. Both share the common mascot, Lady Pirates, but, more importantly, both teams were at the bottom of the District 4A-6 standings, with perhaps this game being the only shot at claiming a district win.
The home standing Lady Pirates of Poteau claimed their second victory of the year, and their first district victory since last year, by the score of 1-0.
After playing Westville on Monday for Senior Night, Poteau soccer teams will be home today and tonight for homecoming with Hilldale at Costner Stadium. The girls' game will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the boys' contest at 7 p.m.
The homecoming coronation will begin at 4:30 p.m. There will also be tailgate party beginning at 4:30 p.m. For $5, fans can purchase a burger basket with a hamburger/cheeseburger, chips and a drink.
