BIXBY — Two Poteau High School graduating wrestlers got one last prep match under their belts at the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Games Small School Wrestling Dual, which took place Wednesday night at Bixby High School.
Tyler Tustin, a two-time state champion and was state runner-up last February who will wrestle collegiately at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, won his match at 138 pounds with a 4-0 victory over Anadarko's Blake Trescott.
At 170 pounds, Derek Francis, who was a state qualifier last February, lost his match in an 8-0 major decision to Plainview's Drake Martel.
The good news was the Small East beat the Small West 42-10.
The All-State Games will conclude with Friday night's All-State Football Game, which will kick off at 7 p.m. at Union-Tuttle Stadium at Tulsa Union High School.
The game will feature two local players — Poteau tight end and soon-to-be Northeastern State University RiverHawk Jay Werner and Talihina defensive back and soon-to-be Connors State College baseball player Trevor Crone — and one local coach, Poteau's Greg Werner, who will get to coach his son, Jay, one last time.
