Poteau's first-year coach likes how things are going for Pirates

The key word that Greg Werner, Poteau High School's first-year football coach, said about his Pirates going into last week's regular-season finale was “improved.”The Pirates improved on their record from the last two years as they ended with a winning record at 6-4 after a 62-14 rout of the Tulsa Rogers Ropers on Nov. 2 at Costner Stadium on Senior Night.“It was a good night,” Werner said. “It's always good to end on a win. Not many teams get to end things with a win, and we ended on a win. Everybody got to play a lot, so it was a very good night.”
