Poteau's victory over Sallisaw highlighted Week 4's action on gridiron

October 6, 2013

After six years of frustration, the Poteau Pirates ended their losing streak to their archrivals, the Sallisaw Black Diamonds — posting a 34-9 win at Sallisaw's Perry F. Lattimore Stadium in their District 4A-4 opener.
However, that wasn't the only big win by our locals on the night.
The Panama Razorbacks (District 2A-6), Spiro Bulldogs (District 3A-8) and the Talihina Golden Tigers (District A-6) also won their district openers.
The Arkoma Mustangs took out their frustrations on the Sasakwa Vikings last week after letting one get away the week before at Maud. The Mustangs went out and whipped the Vikings 81-32 at Mustangs Field to keep in good position for the playoffs from District C-4.
We're now at the midway point of the season, and wins will be even more important for our local teams.
