Growing up in eastern Oklahoma, and especially in LeFlore County, I was blessed to see great high school football teams. Spiro, Heavener, Poteau and Panama were all great, and I would see them all yearly. However, since Talihina is on the other side of the county, I had a hard time fully understanding and apperciating just how good the Golden Tigers were, also.
Over the years, the Razorbacks continued to be in the upper echelon in their classification, and they made numerous deep runs into the playoffs.
However, several years ago numerous things happened, and the Razorbacks went from the penthouse to being the selection for other team as their homecomings opponents.
Three years ago, Panama chose Brandon Ellis from Gore to revive and restore Razorback football to its rightful place in the pecking order and football history. In the second year of his tenure, Ellis led his team into the playoffs and appears to have the Hogs going in the right direction once again.
