Recent rainfall not enough to life burn ban

August 14, 2012

The local burn ban will remain in effect until the Governor's burn ban expires.

Although the area saw substantial rainfall last week, it was confirmed during the Monday morning LeFlore County Commissioner meeting that the burn ban would remain in effect in conjunction with the Governor's burn ban.
According to Michael Davidson, Director of LeFlore County Emergency Management, the Governor's burn ban is scheduled to expire in two weeks if it isn't reinstated. The commissioners agreed to maintain the local ban until it is determined if the upcoming significant weather changes would affect the state ban.
