Red Oak blanks Wister in Wister Tournament finals; Talihina captures third-place game, while Panama claims consolation championship

WISTER — The Red Oak Eagles flew 20 miles east to Wister and departed with a championship plaque Saturday afternoon after beating the host Wildcats 1-0 in the finals of the Wister Invitational Tournament.
The Eagles made the finals by getting past the Talihina Golden Tigers 6-4, while the ’Cats clawed the Whitesboro Bulldogs 14-0 in Friday night’s semifinals.
Two other LeFlore County teams claimed hardware on Saturday. The Panama Razorbacks handled the Howe Lions 12-0 in three innings to win the consolation championship.
The Golden Tigers beat their local county rivals from Whitesboro 8-0 in five innings to win the third-place game.
Editor’s note: Leflore’s home game against Pittsburg was canceled, and will not be rescheduled. Also, Arkoma’s Thursday game against McCurtain was canceled due to wet fields and will not be rescheduled.
