Relay for Life; Luminaria release scheduled in Poteau

All cancer survivors are invited to take part as special guests in the opening ceremonies of the LeFlore County Relay for Life on Sept. 7 at Costner Stadium.
Survivors and their caregivers are ask to arrive around 5:30 p.m. and register in the survivors are for refreshments and fellowship, organizers said.
They also are invited to take part in the commemorative survivor lap that begins every Relay for Life.
Teams of fundraisers remain through the night, with at least one member walking the track. The top fundraisers are recognized.
Live music and other entertainment is provided during the event.
At dusk, luminaria candles in white bags ling the track are illuminated to pay tribute to those lost to cancer and to honor those still fighting.
Luminaria may be order for $5 each from Renee Meisenheimer, 111 Peters St., PoteauPoteau, OK 74953. Checks should be made payable to the American Cancer Society.
Include your name, address and phone number and the name of the survivor or the person whose memory you want to honor with the luminaria.
