Relay team repeats as Hershey State Meet champs

NORMAN — Four local runners not only repeated as state champions, but won state in a faster time than in 2012.
The 440-yard relay team of Kyra Hornbuckle, Braya Warren, Lauryn Trotter and Jada Price won the girls age 13-14 state title in the 2013 Hershey State Meet, which took place June 22. The foursome shaved six seconds off their state-title time of a year ago.
The relay team was still waiting word as of press time if it qualified for the Hershey National Meet, which will be later this summer in Hershey, Pa.
Hornbuckle and Trotter also ran as individuals. Hornbuckle was fifth in the 220-yard dash, while Trotter was fifth in the long jump.
Three other runners also participated in the meet.
Cameron Duncan was fourth in the 440-yard dash, Kate Hammons fifth in the 50-yard dash and Kiara Warren sixth in the 220-yard dash.
