Robert Dee “Bob” Townley

November 26, 2013

Robert “Bob” Townley, 74, of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Poteau died Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. He was cremated and will be buried at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, in Oakland Cemetery in Poteau.
Bob was born late in the evening on Dec. 19, 1938, and his twin sister Roberta was born just after midnight on Dec. 20 to Odie Irene and James Ira Townley in Oklahoma City. Bob lived in many locations during his youth, but settled in Arlington to raise his family. While living in Arlington, Bob was most proud of the time spent coaching his sons’ baseball and football teams throughout their school years.
After retiring from Associated Popcorn Distributors in Dallas, he moved back to his childhood home of Harrison, Ark., where he rejoined old friends and made new ones. He enjoyed attending classes at North Arkansas College and was a member of Phi Beta Lambda, Rho Zeta Chapter. His last years were spent at Western Grove Villas and his family will be forever grateful for the friendships he made there and in the Harrison area.
Bob is survived by sons, Robert (Jean) of Krum, Texas, and Randy (Sandra) of Arlington; grandchildren, Joshua, Noelle, Savannah, Sara and Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Ashleigh; and cousins, Archie Dow Carter and Sue Lassalette.
