RonaldÂ Butler Gates, 67, ofÂ Poteau diedÂ Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at home.
Ronald was born June 3, 1947, in Miami, Okla., the son of Daniel John and Billie Leah Engleman Gates. He graduated from Savanna High School in the class of 1965.
He worked for the state of Oklahoma as an appeals judge for the employment office before transferring to Poteau where he worked as the office manager until his retirement in 2007.
Ronald married Nan Stanton Corder on May 20, 1980, in McAlester.
He was a member of the Gold Wing Touring Association and was the chaplain of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his wife, Nan of the home, daughter, Tammy Gates Lehmberg and husband LindyÂ ofÂ Midwest City; Dean Gates ofÂ Choctaw;Â granddaughter,Â Â Hillarie Lehmberg ofÂ Midwest City; stepson, Wes Corder and wife Debra ofÂ McAlester; step-grandchildren, Tyler Corder, Taylor Corder, Tanner Corder all of McAlester, mother, Billie Mullins and husband A.L. ofÂ McAlester; sisters, Danna Lewis ofÂ Savanna, Linda Maynor ofÂ Savanna, brother,Â Bill Gates and wife Doris ofÂ Savanna; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Â He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Gates; grandparents, Simon and Lela Engleman; and two granddaughters, Heather Lehmberg and Khayle Lehmberg.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, in the Bishop Funeral Service Chapel of Memories in McAlester with the Rev. James Crowson officiating.
Burial will be in Blanco Cemetery.
PallbearersÂ will beÂ Larry Lame, Randy Bigelow, Greg Armstrong, Randy Wilson, Gary Teurman and Phil Hedgeson.
